I’ve been using this system for a few years now. A couple of people asked me to post pics of how I did this, but I kept forgetting to take them.

I had the quick release kuma mount from our old grill so I used it here. It works pretty well, it’s nice to be able to take it off easily for crossings or cleaning, but two mounts would be more stable. I’ve thought about adding a second mount, but it would be hard to line two of them up when putting the grill back on the rail.

It’s not going to win any beauty contests, that’s for sure. But after trying magma and kuma I was very disappointed with how they cooked. The kuma was truly awful. I have a weber at home that I like so I wanted to use the q, as do quite a few other boaters. It certainly cooks better than the marine grills at the cost of being ugly. I keep a cover on it most of the time or store it in the laz with the tank off of it.

Another use for BBQ Mount

I recently used the same KUMA BBQ Mount for another purpose. My wife requested that I build her a small table to use while she resides on the bench in pilot house on our Kadey Krogen. With a few minor additions of some angle 2 X 2 aluminum to attach the wood table. As you can see the table is mounted on a vertical shaft, the table is allowed to swing easily as the mount is simply not tightened down as much, also I installed a couple of one inch nylon washers below the mount to smooth out the movement and not mess us the teak up the rail.
