    For Sale ads MUST include:
    • Asking price

    • A Basic Description
    • Clear statement whether you are the owner or non-owner (posting for friend, relative, or acquaintance)
    • Don't forget to select: FOR SALE, WANTED or FREE in the Title block.
    All ads should also include ALL the following:
    • Pertinent maintenance and condition information
    • Exterior picture or pictures
    • Interior picture or pictures (boats)

    Hints that you may be dealing with a Scammer:

    • Requires payment via Bank Transfer, BitCoin/CryptoCurrency, WesternUnion or other unsecured method.
    • Buyer or Seller suggests Paypal "Friends and Family" payment. Paypal is a good way to arrange payment but an invoice for goods and services should be used rather than "Friends and Family". "Friends and Family" avoids fees BUT there is no recourse if the transaction runs aground. Friends and Family is for gifts only. There is no protection for Friends and Family transactions, so never ever use it to buy something.
    • Declines to allow viewing the item before proceeding with the transaction.

Wanted: Looking for a Monk trawler

I don't know where to post this, moderators, feel free to move it.

In October or November 2016, I was at the Loggerhead marina in St Pete FL and there was a very nice boat there: a Monk trawler, about 40' sedan type (no aft cabin). I met the owner/skipper and we talked about boats, single handling, folding bikes etc.
I keep thinking about that boat. Size, shallow draft, good design: she is close to my ideal boat.
I searched all over the internet and can not find an example of a Monk trawler with the sedan layout.
Does anybody know that boat? Or is the owner on this forum?
I was there with the small Prairie 29, black hull.

No, I am not ready to sell the Prairie but my wife loves the boat style so much that she wants a bigger one. I downsized from a 41' sailboat but now we plan longer cruises and find the 29 a little tight. We began to look around and that Monk design keeps coming back.
Any information about that boat or a sistership would be welcome.
 
I believe that boat was a one off. There are some nice Monk 36 aft cabins on the market, mostly Florida and East Coast. There is a Monk owners association on Yahoo Forums that is a good source of info and boats available. Good luck, I love my Monk.
 
Try smartmarineguide.com they show two 40’ Monks one in Charleston and one in Ft Lauderdale.
 
Thanks. It is very possible that this was a one-off. Most of the Monks in that size draft about 4' and this one was only 3', single engine.

That is the same boat listed twice.

Have you looked at an Ocean Alexander 40' Sedan/Europa. An Ed Monk design built in the same yards.

Wrong side of the country, but a nice looking example at what looks like a reasonable price on craigslist in San Francisco too

Yes but that is not the boat I saw or have in mind. It may have been an Ocean Alexander but an older model.
 
I have Monk 38 Trawler Sedan built by Tai Chao which I have completely refit.
The sedan has huge upper deck space and a practical interior.
Single screw with rudder and prop protected, she is geared for knocking down trees so perfect on the inside as the ICW is not getting any deeper.
We have done many Gulfstream crossings to the Bahamas.
Even when it is really nasty, you may roll your guts out, but she will get you there.
This was my father's last liveaboard boat in the series and I am a professional yacht captain having run both power and sail globally.
I could have bought a newer boat for much less than it cost to refit this one but I think Monk got it right.

I saw the listing but there is no description, no pictures, no specs. Keep in mind that I am only interested in a sedan version, not an aft cabin one.
