I've got a Side Power SP125Ti thruster and the rubber coupler between the motor and the shaft let go - it's the original Lovejoy splined type of coupler, with a metal receiver on the motor, and another receiver on the shaft.

After disassembly both the shaft and mote both spin freely on their own so I assume it was just it's time, or perhaps there was an obstruction at some point. not sure..The boat is a 1998 and I know the thruster was done later, but I'm ot at all sure it's age.

In researching I see I can buy a replacement coupler, OR I can also "upgrade" to their newer one-piece coupler (at 2.5x $).

Curious of anyone has experience with this decision?
