hello from s.e. Illinois. We purchased a 1979 mainship34 last fall. We have yet to take her out of her slip. The marina where she is located is about 3 hours from us. We have just secured a slip about an hour from us…..to get her to her new slip, we will be having to take her from alton illinois down towards ky lake and over to evansville indiana, which will be her new home. The boat needs much of her decking repaired, as there are numerous soft areas, thus the need to get her closer to us so that we can address those needs. Previous owners did not take her out of her covered slip for the 4 years they had her. They have topped her dual fuel tanks, but again, that fuel has been sitting now for close to a year and a half. We are hoping to get together with a captain in the area and he is going ro come aboard and have a look over at her and advise us on what we need to do to make her joirney.

We look forward to reading the many areas of the forum and gain useful knowledge regarding bosting with a trawler in general, traveling on the rivers and the ever useful repair forums.

Thanks again for welcoming us, we appreciate it. Dan and lisa

Greetings,
Welcome aboard. Assuming a diesel engine(s), 1 or 2 year old diesel should be fine. Bring lots of fuel filters and learn how to change them. Buy tow insurance (Boat US/SeaTow). Have fun.

Welcome aboard. Good luck with your trip and congrats on your new boat.

Welcome. As said diesel should be fine. Change filters and get her running. Have plenty of spare fuel filters. Any wave action along the trip will stir up crud laying in the bottom of the fuel tanks. Hopefully you have dual racors filters so you can easily switch to the second racor when the first one becomes clogged.

Buy tow insurance (Boat US/SeaTow). Have fun.

Check coverage and providers - tow coverage may be spotty along your route.

Congratulations, and welcome.
