I was stationed at Elmendorf from 70-74, lived in Spenard first them out Northern Lights
Blvd then bought a home in Anchorage on Ambergate Dr. I raised Huskies to show and also had a sled that I used to run the dogs with. We'd hook them up in the driveway, turn left then we were out of the "city" and in the woods. Fun times.

I got to know Earl and Natalie Norris and several others who were big into raising and racing Huskies.

We loved it up there. Living on a USAF income can be a bit strenuous so we fished and hunted every chance we could to keep the freezer filled. We pretty much hunted and camped from one end of the roads (Homer) to Valdez to Whittier to Tok to Fairbanks.

Lots of good memories from those years. We're in the process now of finding and motorhome and will be heading up the Alaska Hwy in a couple of years. My wife has never been to AK so that'll be one of the first long trips.
