Sandpiper approaching her slip. I cannot see the finger docks or the head of the slip from the bridge and must rely on my wife's directing me from the cockpit. We use a set of voice powered head phones (Marriage Savers) so that no yelling is required.

Going north up Mathieson Channel. Took the Reid Passage route, Mathieson Channel then Jackson Narrows and Jackson Passage. Now anchored in Clothes Bay. Not an AIS target in sight.

Narrow slip, Codger. Thankfully, my slip is oversized and can dock without assistance.

Perfection....except for that damn blowboat in the way of another great shot! :D :hide:

Hey! They are beautiful people!

A boat under sail is wondrous!

My boat's beam is 14'6" and the slip is 16'0". Not much room for error.

My beam is 13 feet and the slip's width is about 17 feet. :D

Thought I might make a few bucks today driving a small tug....helping fix a bridge....

That's so cool. I would love to be a mate on a workboat for a few days. I would learn so much.

Our slip: 40' long x 16' wide x 14' tall. 34' Tolly is 37' OAL x 12.5' beam x 12.5' tall. On fly bridge I need to duck entering and leaving.

In second photo that's my grandson Cooper holding a buffer... a little over 3 yrs. ago. He's now 6'3" at 16.5 yrs., and growing! Third photo is Linda, Kylie, Coop and me on Tolly in 2008. :D :thumb:

Ooooooo...

Kynoch? Mussel? Poison? Culpepper?

Eastbound in the early morning hours in Sumner Strait. Had to improvise a sunshade.

Probably trying to get home in Thorne Bay.
Probably just came from Point Baker.

Notice how clutter free the "view from the wheelhouse" is. Cable lifelines are much smaller in dia than SS rails and none at all are on the bow. No roll bar or anchor to muss up the view.

My picture disapeared. I'll repost.

Doing an overnight passage, heading North, sunset with reflections off of cranes at the Port of Brisbane.
Dolphin escorts on both sides as we rounded Double Island Point heading in for the Wide Bay Bar crossing the next day.

Picture vanished so I repost.

One of the reason I like the NT32 so well. Great fwd visibility.

Second pic was in Patterson Inlet just before a 50 knot gale. This is how we started out. The rocks weren't that far behind us. Didn't drag.

Fine for you, but I like something substantial to hold on to or grab since I'm balance-impaired.

Mark,
Yup I think I'd be out of boating if that were me. But my ballance isn't what it usta be. I usta walk all over big piles of driftwood on the beach w near total confidence. When I was about 20 I had skiing friends that occasionally skied in competition that thought I was magic on the beach logs. Now I'm an old man and very few people are skiing at my age.

But re ballance and similar things it's a matter of degree re the "problem". I have a rotater cuff problem but pulling anchor seems no problem at all except for extending my arms out over the side for the final act of pulling the anchor up over the gunnel. That may have even caused the cuff problem .. I don't know. That's probably the main reason I put the Claw back on the bow. Visually interference it's almost totally nonexistent and it's a really big anchor for my boat. Think it's the same as yours .. 33lb Lewmar but mine has sharpend fluke tips.

But if I had a ballance problem I'd do just as you do .. or bail out.

By the way that's a nice picture.

I have always believed in as much safety railing and grab railing as feasible on all/any potion of a boat; exterior and interior.

Continued "Balance" for even the most well balanced person can become a problem when boat is twisting and pitching and rolling.

Safety is as safety does. For view clarity... I believe in piloting from flying bridge - with safety railings and grab rails all around.
