Hi to all and thankyou for any feedback.
We are currently looking at an Island Gypsy 30 1977
We would appreciate any feedback what so ever,
We are very interested in knowing what timber the Hull construction is?
In Tasmania where we are from the 2 main timbers used for wooden boat construction is Huon Pine or Celery Top Pine.

Many thanks

1977 30 ft island gypsy hull material

From the internet with the above heading for a search it says fiberglass.

I think 1977 is around the time of IG switching from wood to fibreglass. Should be obvious inside whether timber or f/g. It won`t have been built in Australia and won`t be the timbers you nominate. I knew of a 50ft IG(in repair after sinking) built of meranti, a poor choice. IG largely "copied" GB, which I think used mahogany. I guess teak is a possibility, but meranti resembles teak, and Australian cedar.
