Looking at this trawler and the toe rail and the rail on the lower bow have some rot also ( what are these rails called the part circled in Red?
How difficult is it to remove and replace them?

Mr. 39. As noted, difficulty unknown. Depending on the extent of the rot you may be able to laminate pieces onto existing structure. Sand and paint.
Could be mahogany, teak, oak or some other wood. If you do replace them before you mount the new wood seal it with West Epoxy. They have details on their website.
They are sponsons. They were likely glassed into the hull in manufacture, removal and replacement is going to take some work and refinishing to get it looking original.
