Last night was likely the final show in Vancouver for the Stones. They put on a great show (way better than Vegas a month ago) and really good sound for a 60,000 seat venue.
Unfortunately a 65 yo woman died just before the Stones took to the stage which delayed things an hour.
Our hearts are with her family.

How is Keith Richard’s still standing as he pursues his 7th decade on the road?

Vale Sergio Mendes. A timeless performer in the Brazilian jazz/samba/bossa nova genre. Amazing how much time has passed since the band called Brazil 66 launched on the music scene.
In his honor, the very early Mas Que Nada. The clip looks dated, but the sound is fresh.

BruceK thanks for posting that. I always enjoyed Brazil 66. He worked closely with Herb Alpert. His lead singer Lani Hall, is married to Herb Alpert and they are both still touring.

We attended the Foghat concert at the Tracy Grand last Saturday and the tunes are still playing in my head. These guys still have it in spades, great show. Still making albums and still tight and still rockin' hard! Like revisiting my youth. Here's a taste off their new album;

If they come around and you are a grey hair rocker like me...go see 'em, no dough wasted for sure!

And now the early version;

This is the Pat Metheny Group with Minuano. Shortest version I could find, still long enough for a bathroom break. I suppose it`s smooth jazz, but it`s Brazilian too, and at one stage almost classical. Tuneful, played by people who seem to enjoy what they do. Worth a listen.

I've been a fan since the late '70's and have seen him multiple times. Truly a great!

KnotYet, as you appreciate Pat Metheny, you might like Yutaka. A Japanese American from I think California, using some Japanese instruments, for a relaxed Brazilian sound. With some effort I collected the 3 CDs he recorded.

Greetings,
This popped up in the middle of Julia Child preparing her succulent Lamb Flambe recipe...Not usually my style but today is a strange day.

I ran across this singer on YouTube. Never heard of her before but she has a beautiful voice. Reminds me of Karen Carpenter.

Quincy Jones has gone.
Had to happen, he was 91,but a giant of the music business. He came to prominence as bandleader for Frank Sinatra, he arranged for Michael Jackson. He knew everyone that mattered in soul, R & B and leaves a huge legacy of the music he created. Here`s just a sampler, with Q conducting, featuring Simply Red and Chaka Khan on "Everything Must Change".

For all the Boomers out there, here's a tribute band to one of the great bands. I'm a little proud because the lead back up singer is my first mate, Tracey. Life is great when you get serenaded in the morning with waves rockin and your partner is too!
