I have done the Richie rebuild. About half the price of a new compass, and it comes back looking brand new, and fits with same mounting holes etc. 1 year warrantee on the rebuild. I'd do it again.

My Mainship Pilot II (2003) has a Danforth (Rule-Danforth-Vikiing-ITT - whom ever now discontinued altogether) labeled compass, Has suffered some corrosion on mounting screws and a broken sunshade. Reading this post prompted me to check on repair parts etc. The Danforth version used is not repairable but Ritchie is offering a drop-in replacement at a sustantialby reduced price - probably a good idea while available. https://www.vikingcompass.com/f-82.html $121.00 - no connection or financial interest.

Forgot to put the final pictures. I also completely stripped down the severely corroded bracket and put a few coats of paint on it.
