Howdy- my main pump failed this am, thankfully I had a spare shurflo 4158 5GPM - Checked old pump, and noticed open circuit between pressure switch and ground. New pumpm from switch to ground had 13 ohms. Assume at zero pressure, there should be continuity through switch, with some resistance, but not open to ground. That way pump runs at low pressure. Pulled switch apart and seems incredibly stiff to depress. Thought I’d just get a new head assembly. Any other thoughts? Thanks all.

Is that a variable speed pump? I haven’t actually checked out the pressure sensing on those. A simple on-off switch should be read across the contacts to check the switch. If you read to ground you’ll be seeing the motor windings too. (Assuming the switch is on the positive wire.)

Yes, switch on the hot wire, to motor, to ground. I’m going to order a new head assy. Then have a hot spare. Gotta have a spare house water pump!
