Well the 24hrs is over. Not much fun as the seas were much larger then advertised. Some 6-7' stuff that moved some things aboard that had never moved before. Todays pic is your classic low country anchorage.

What are you doing for heat while underway or is it not needed?

Bob,
We use what FF calls a bus heater. It is a little radiator and blower in a self contained unit that is plumbed inline with the hot water loop that feeds the water heater. Hamilton Marine has several sized models all for a few hundred bucks. They will blow you out of the boat with the heat that they produce.

Very nice leisurely inside run today. I highly recommend the St Augustine Municipal Moorings. $20 gets you a mooring, free water taxi, and use of facilities. St Aug is one of the most pleasant stops on the ICW. These are from town and our mooring.

I agree that it is a great stop and the open shuttle tour that picks up there is also fun, just make sure you have alot of energy if you plan on hiking to the supermarket.

St Augustine is awesome! Top 5! We did the Municipal Marina, but the Moorings are good as well.

I have to add my recommendation for a stop at St. Augustine. One of the best on the whole ICW. Oh year, my grandson is going to attend Flagler College there next fall.

If you need to duck in to get out of weather the Fort Pierce Inlet is one of the best. Usual caveats apply ie: wind out of the East on a falling tide can get bouncy. It is a straight shot in, and a couple of miles to the City Marina. We will probably be here through Saturday. Saturday morning is a great farmers market nest to the marina. We have a car here if you catch us.

We did a couple of layover days there a few weeks ago - great place! Found a small, cash-only grocery store (across Bridge of the Lions, down Anastasia Blvd about half mile) that had inexpensive, incredibly fresh seafood & meats. Picked up a bag of grits and some shrimp - great dinner that night. For breakfast, try Georgie's (corner of Malaga & Oviedo) for an old-fashioned diner meal. Enjoy.

Don't know how you feel about anchoring out, but you missed a great anchorage behind Cumberland Island just north of the GA/FL border.

We normally anchor out 99% of the time. Spent six months this summer in Maine and we never went to a marina. Thanks for the tip, yes I do know of the anchorage but we were trying to get more distance. We anchored in the south anchorage behind Cumberland Island.

Morning at the anchorage here in Mosquito Lagoon, just north of Cape Canaveral. Nice to be surrounded by one's peeps. The water temp was 46 when I left Deltaville two weeks ago!
