Ben,
Glad to see the weather is going to be fantastic for you! I hope everyone gets to spend their weekend as pleasurably.

Whoa. Ice and elevate, my ex would tell you. Lotta ice.

I really want to get up that way with our boat sometime. What a fantastic trip you are completing - thanks for sharing all the posts and photos, Mark.

Any time you're in Oriental, you'll have a few beer buddies down this way.

Best,

We've been in Ohio all week. Continuing to enjoy your trip and posts.

Best,

Sounds great! The trip doesn't end in Deltaville. I'll haul out for a week or two and then it's off to Boothbay, ME. I'll keep yacking away.

You need to take care of it because it may take forever to heal or you may further damage it.

Just an observation from past injuries...

It's just amazing how google earth even shows the deep water channel into Deltaville.
Great thread and pics

Bob

I am really enjoying this cruise. The pictures are outstanding and I love the lack of traffic. You look like you command the channels.

The river is going down & I'll head back to finish up some projects this week but I won't get much done for checking your posts & pics;-) keep having fun.

Take your time. The covers are just starting to come off the boats on the hard.

Why are you hauling? cutlass bearings hanging in there? what's up with your foot leg- your foot looks two sizes to big? Pics are great....

I just wanted to say "thank you" for allowing me to join you on your cruise via your posts on the forum. Your photos are just outstanding, really enjoyed seeing what it is like on the right coast, a treat for a PNW boater. Be safe and heal quickly:thumb:

Thank you. It has been great having everyone along. It really helped keep it from feeling like a solo trip! The next leg will start in a few weeks. Those who care to tag along will get to see the most beautiful cruising grounds on the east coast, Maine. I'll be headed up the Chesapeake, the Delaware Bay then offshore NJ into New York City the Long Island Sound, Cape Cod then onto Maine.

Thanks to all for the well wishes. The leg hopefully will "heal" soon enough. Unfortunately the injury will really put a damper on the amount of projects I can tackle during the all to brief haulout.

The pics are from my marina in Deltaville. The slip didn't turn out to be a very good investment this year as I used it for three weeks of the twelve months I paid for, ouch!

haulout.

Think you can post some stats from the trip? Starting point, total miles, avg. weather delays, avg miles per day, gph... etc. I want to try and use it as a baseline should we want to try the same trip... in reverse. ;-)

Haul out is to replace zincs, possible replacement of a cutlass bearing. Touchup the bottom paint near the waterline where it just doesn't want to stick to the epoxy I put there last year. Add two more underwater lights. Possibly change out my props. Figure out what the smoke is from.

1224 NM Marathon, FL to Deltaville, VA
14 travel days
87 NM per day (including three early stop days for destination stops)
360 gallons
2 gallons per hour
180 hours travel time
12.85 hours per day (including three early stop days for destination stops)
6.8 knts average speed
3.4 NMPG

No weather delays but weather did keep me from going offshore which added many, many miles and days to the total.

Nice! Thanks.

Good Evening!
I've been dropped back in the water and I head out at dawn for Boothbay Harbor, Maine from here in Deltaville, VA. I don't know if I can promise you any hurricanes this time but it would be nice to take a year off after the last two. Looks to be about 590nm if I set rhumb lines from Cape May, NJ to the Cape Cod Canal and the CCC to Boothbay. Both stretches will mean considerable North Atlantic open ocean runs so weather will dictate the final course. I'm solo on the trip as the family is meeting me in ME upon my arrival. As always you are welcome to follow me in real time (and it's a pleasure to have you along) on marinetraffic.com. My boat is "Grace" and the MMSI is 913030566.
