Tinting Strips for flybridge Lower shield?

For future reference....... The wrinkles are removed with a plastic squeegee or credit card. Spray bottle with distilled water and small amount of dish soap. Spray both the surface of the surface to be tinted and the tint. Work from center out to work out bubbles and wrinkles. Most films are 2...

    Used zinc annodes

I am not an expert on the subject, but from my experience I would not replace them. Unlike some antifouling bottom paints, I do not believe that newer sacrificial anodes loose their effectiveness after a month or two out of the water. Previous owner of our boat replaced "zincs" when it was...

    Hello to everybody

Welcome. You will find many here that were sailors at one time. I was and would still enjoy sailing, but have enough projects to keep me busy.

New to me Marine Trader 36 Sundeck - Questions

We acquired our GB 36 in the very same way. For all the talk about the boat being his baby, was left with only the Garmin manual. So now the internet search begins and plenty of copy paper and ink. Check the water in the batteries. Hard to charge a half empty(water) battery. 2 AC inlets...

Emergency tiller 78 Grand Banks 42 Classic

28" to top bend. Tiller is 42" long. 10" of that's bronze from vertical piece. Wood inserts 6 or 7 inches into bronze. Now if only I had a spare prop down there......

Emergency tiller 78 Grand Banks 42 Classic

Here is mine. Rebuilt rudder table. Flipped steering quadrant because of sag from previous owners using as a step.

Emergency tiller 78 Grand Banks 42 Classic

Good morning. You are correct about the emergency tiller. I have GB 36 #599, and it did come with the tiller. I will take send pics when I get over to the boat hopefully today. The guru of GB in my neck of the woods, Delmarva peninsula, is John Shannahan. 410.822.8556 Oxford Yacht Agency...

    36' Grand Banks Cutless Bearings

Following as well. When ours was surveyed, there was a spot halfway between engine and prop that was solid. No moisture was apparent. Possibly ballast? No movement of shaft observed. Searching for '79 GB 36 manual.

    Transmisson and Throttle cables

Look carefully at the flybridge controls and see if there is wear on a particular connection point. That would be my first choice. I would note the connection point that did not work.

Replace a Suncor anchor with... what?

I'll second graygoat on the supermax. It came on the new to us GB36. Not sure of the size. Has 20' of 3/8" chain and 80' of 3/4" braid. Knock on wood, it held great on my run from Marathon to Crisfield. I have no experience with polished stainless anchors. My blue collar opinion is that the...

Will the Titanic claim a few more?

I was just pointing out that even if they had surfaced the occupants of the submersible would not be able to open from the inside. Hence suffocating before rescuers could find them and open the hatch.

Will the Titanic claim a few more?

Apparently the occupants of the sub would be unable to open the main hatch as it is bolted on from the outside by 17 fasteners Loss of communication on decent would lead me to believe a breach of the hull.

Will the Titanic claim a few more?

G captain article has the decent taking 2 hours.

    Name and type?

Thanks Chris and rgano "Knock on wood" never drug once on my trip up. Anchored in some pretty sketchy places with change of tides and current. Going to learn about this anchor.

    Name and type?

Pic shows main Bruce type anchor and a Danforth secondary. I purchased a used Delta as a third anchor. Does anyone have experience with this one? I used it from Marathon to Crisfield with great results. 20' of 3/8" chain and 85' of 1" braid. Recently purchased 64' of 3/8" chain and 100' of 1"...

    Opinions on makes

RT said it. Maintenance is key. Currently repairing and replacing stuff that should have been attended to years ago. That said the boat still has good bones. The decks had been done and fuel tanks replaced.
