Hahaha either I or someone Watching will film it. I’ll post it to YouTube and send you guys the link. I had envisaged getting someone with a drone to come down and make a movie out of it and will revisit that closer to the day but when I looked in to it a couple of years ago they wanted an astronomical amount to fly a drone around and film the launch.
Lookin' good Matt. I'm not on here as much since I sold Lotus, but keeping an eye on the place, and your build in particular. Just gotta see her in the water. Due to the need to adjust trim with ballast, etc, I don't expect you'll film the actual first splash, and rightly so. Just don't keep us waiting too long, puleese..?

Those Sunpower panels are great. I just installed 27 330w panels on our house. Well I didn't but the solar company did. We should be close to "net zero".

Matt, could you tell me who in Ballina? PM if you like. I can't seem to identify any of the businesses there stocking Sunpower.
I'm a big fan of Sunpower. I have 6 x 345W panels on the boat but am now considering some for my house. They typically have higher efficiency than other panels, so more output for a given amount of real estate.

What the total output capacity per hour?
I only had enough real-estate for 2X130 watts solar panels on the pilot house roof.
It more than enough keep the 4X4D batteries charged while dead at the dock without shore power. Divorced from the dock, I can remain on the hook for 2 days. One of the 4 4Ds is devote to the main engine start. I do have a group 27 devoted to the generator start too.
The intent is to keep the batteries charged to run the 12 vt fridge.
If I didn't turn on the TV, entertainment center and lights, I suspect I can go closer to 3 days.
If I feel the need, I can switch the microwave or the galley outlets to the 1500 watt inverter. Remember it takes longer to drain the batteries with 1500 watt inverter than a 2000 watt inverter.... you are more careful with the usage with the smaller inverter.
Also have 2X400 watt inverters operating. They are dedicated to the 2 TVs and one 120 vt outlet each and can be shut off to conserve power.
I feel very confident with my set up. Something has to work, keeping the batteries charged.(I hope.)
IF you see a flaw, please point it out to me.
I do know of one guy who said, "Put a 5000 watt inverter on the system and forget it." (no solar panels) I guess he has a number of 8Ds onboard and doesn't anchor out much, if at all.

Ah right, got 'em now. Quite close to Ballina anyway, and still an easy drive down there for me. Still checking out their site, but it seems pretty good.
I just need to decide how to setup the home system eg batteries included or not, how best to incorporate the 7 x 260W Suniva panels I already have (original boat system). More research needed on several fronts.
I was dealing with a guy called Nathan. He knocked $80 off the price of the MPPT controller and the panels were half price to what I can get them for here in Perth. There was an issue with how they packaged them up and one of the frames got damaged. I wrote to him last night and he replied straight away and said he’ll refund the cost of freight. I’m stoked cause once the mounting brackets go on the damaged is mostly hidden anyway. I was more worried about any integrity issues but it looks to be only cosmetic which I can live with. They’ve been very helpful.

Rainbow Power have been going quite a long time with regards to solar. Panels are really awkward to freight, and to Perth it would have been over 4000 km. Amazing deal you got!
Their prices on Victron are generally a little better than my usual Gold Coast supplier as well, although they do know boat systems very well and have given me good service.

Yesterday the boys and I lifted the bowrail up into position and began tacking on the feet. Today we are welding, sanding and polishing the joins. I left them to work on the railing while I started to guide coat the primer and began rubbing it back with P320 grade paper. The painter messaged me to say he managed to get an EWP to use for spraying the topcoat instead of using the scaffold tower and that getting dropped off on Friday so I can use it to do the sanding. I’ll dismantle it and store it under the boat till I’m finished with it. I’ve decided to donate the scaffold tower to the boat builders at the place where I am so they too can build their dream boat.

Hi all,
I’ve been hard at it working to a painting deadline since my last post. I’m shooting colour on Monday. Today I finished off covering the superstructure with plastic. Tomorrow I’ll give the hull a rub with prepsol and leave it over night to evaporate and Monday morning I’ll wipe her down with tack rags while the painter is setting up then shoot the finishing top coats of Neutral grey on the hull, Tuesday we’ll do the white superstructure and Wednesday we will do the koala grey roof brow just leaving the black to do sometime in the following weeks

Oh ok. No mate but once I install the curtains I will be making soon any water will roll off the roof, down the curtains and away from the cockpit.
Awesome day today. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a few years now. I was so nervous this morning I felt sick but that soon went away when I started to see her lines shine. A lot of paint went on to allow me to take the top of the peel off and flatten it out a little and then machine buff it to a mirror shine. Don’t really need to but I’ve come this far so what’s another month of sanding and polishing eh...!! ? more painting to come tomorrow and Wednesday
